Mercedes Servicing That Doesn't Break The Bank

If you were to return to your original dealership every time your Mercedes needed a service, over time you would be paying thousands and thousands of dollars unnecessarily.

Mercedes services can be notoriously expensive, but they don’t need to be. Our expert team can match and even exceed the quality of a dealership service.

We are RAA, Auto-Tech and Institute of Automotive and Mechanical Engineers (IAME) certified and receive ongoing Mercedes-specific training—in parts, processes and techniques as they develop—meaning that it is possible to get the same high-end service, but without the price tag.

What’s more, as active members of the Motor Trade Association South Australia, we proudly demonstrate high standards of care with every vehicle, and make sure to include handbook stamping as routine upon completion of your service, which can significantly improve your vehicle’s resale value.

All Original Equipment Manufacturer Parts

If, during our assessment and testing, we locate a part that needs to be replaced or upgraded, we can do it onsite in our workshop. With a large selection of specialist parts available in-house, we minimise the waiting period to get your car back to peak performance condition.

It’s imperative that Mercedes vehicles are fitted with Mercedes parts, and manufacturer standard approved fully synthetic oils are used in accordance with Specifications 229.5 and 229.52, rather than inferior cheaper alternatives. It’s how we can ensure that your car’s complex engine components remain protected and kept in the condition that the manufacturer intended, serving you well for many years to come.

Mercedes Servicing FAQs

Mercedes recommends servicing intervals roughly every 12 months or 15,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. However, actual need can depend on factors like your driving habits, amount of stop-start or highway driving, weather, and load (carrying heavy payloads or towing). Thankfully, all this data is collected by your vehicle’s inbuilt ASSYST PLUS service indicator system, which becomes a useful guide in maintaining the optimum condition of your Mercedes.

At Pulse Auto, our Mercedes Benz Service Specialists will help establish the ideal service schedule for your specific model and usage, ensuring safety, performance, and long-term reliability.

When you follow your Mercedes logbook service schedule, it means servicing your carexactly as the manufacturer prescribes. For Mercedes vehicles, this means that we’ll provide you with a different service category each visit. You’ll either be due for a:

  • Service A, which is a minor service which includes oil, filter, extensive fluid and safety checks, or
  • Service B, a major service which includes additional replacement of cabin dust/combination filters and brake fluid

A standard logbook service from Pulse Auto includes (but is not limited to):

  • Engine oil & filter replacement
  • Checking & topping up all fluids (coolant, brake fluid, transmission, etc.)
  • Inspecting brakes: pads, rotors, lines
  • Tyre inspection (wear, pressure, alignment)
  • Steering & suspension checks
  • Belts, hoses, filters (air, fuel, cabin) inspections
  • Electrical & safety systems (lights, battery, safety features)
  • Road-test to check driveability

Our approach ensures you stay compliant with Mercedes specifications, keeps your warranty safe, and upholds the high standard of Mercedes Benz Specialist Care.

Yes. But generally Pulse will use a high quality aftermarket part that meets all the manufacturers recommendations, thus saving the customer money but still meeting the quality parts needed to keep your Mercedes working to peak performance. In some cases when only genuine parts are the only option we will use the genuine parts but will always seek the best part at the best price keeping your Mercedes performance as high as possible and keeping you safe and reliable driving.

No — servicing at a non-dealer workshop will not void your manufacturer warranty under ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) guidelines, as long as certain conditions are met:

  • The service is done by suitably qualified mechanics following Mercedes’ specification and maintenance schedule.
  • Any parts and fluids used are fit for purpose (genuine or approved quality).
  • You maintain proper records (logbook entries, service records etc.).

Pulse Auto offers you Expert Care Without the Dealer Price Tag, while ensuring legal, warranty-safe servicing provided by Mercedes Benz Service Specialists.

Yes — some Mercedes models, especially those with direct injection petrol engines (CGI) or advanced fuel systems, can develop carbon build-up in intake valves, throttle bodies, or EGR systems. This happens because in direct injection designs, fuel does not wash over intake valves like in older port injection systems, so deposits can accumulate from oil vapour, blow-by gases, etc. Diesel-powered models, such as BlueTEC, also require careful monitoring of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Symptoms may include rough idle, reduced throttle response, decreased fuel economy, misfires or hesitation under acceleration.

At Pulse Auto regular servicing should help prevent any carbon build up but if you experience any problem Pulse is able to inspect and clean or replace any parts that will require attention. If needed we are also able to provide an intake clean which will help remove some of the carbon from the system. Helping to prolong engine life and reduce fuel consumption.

If a warning light appears:

  • Don’t ignore it — some lights indicate urgent problems (e.g. engine temperature, oil pressure).
  • Take note of the warning light symbol, any accompanying message (if available), and any symptoms such as loss of power, unusual sounds or smells.
  • Bring your car to a Trusted Qualified Mercedes Mechanic for a diagnostic scan.

Pulse Auto uses prompt, Mercedes-specific diagnostic scanning tools to accurately read Mercedes fault codes, providing fast troubleshooting before minor issues become major failures. We’ll then advise you how urgently the issue needs to be fixed. That’s part of our Mercedes Benz Specialist Care promise.

This depends quite a bit on driving conditions, style, and environment. Rough guidelines are:

  • Brake pads: often between 30,000 to 60,000 kilometres, depending on use. Your car will tell you when it’s time – Mercedes vehicles are equipped with electronic brake pad wear sensors that trigger a dashboard warning when they need replacement.
  • Rotors generally require replacement every time new pads are fitted as they are made of a soft compound and cannot be machined, being soft means there is generally a lip on the discs as the material is worn.

During each service, our Mercedes Benz Service Specialist team inspects pad thickness, rotor condition (warp, thickness, scoring), and will recommend replacement using superior after market parts or genuine parts when needed, so braking remains safe and effective.
